What about shoes?

To start out running you only need comfortable cushioned sports shoes. If you get the bug and want to get specialist kit there are both high and low budget options. Lots of runners get a ‘gait analysis’ before they buy specialist running shoes. This will help advise the type of shoe you need to help you enjoy running injury free. Some runners don’t go down this route and get by just fine.

Your run leader and fellow runners will all have their own advice and preferences.
